These Dairy-Free Patatas Bravas are so simple and easy to make. Served with homemade garlic sauce and a delicious romesco sauce, you’ll be sure to serve this for appetizers or side dish.

Dairy-Free Patatas Bravas

If you haven’t had Patatas Bravas, they are one of the most common tapas found all throughout Spain or any tapas restaurant. Patatas Bravas are deep-fried potatoes topped with a delicious tomato-y sauce and aioli. They are absolutely incredible and a dish I usually order 3 of because I devour it with no hesitation.

I have always love patatas bravas, but when I finally went to Spain last October and ate them, holy moly. It was then that it dawned on me to re-create this dish at home. I mean, why not? It was only my favorite tapas to order. Every time we went anywhere to eat in Spain, you better believe these bad boys ordered a few times LOL.

When I created these Dairy-Free Patatas Bravas, I knew I wanted to tweak this just slightly to make it easier for me at home.

Ingredients and Substitutions

  • Potatoes: I used yellow baby potatoes, but any potato (EXCEPT russet) will work here. Just make sure they are cut into bite-size pieces.
  • Garlic Mayo: my infamous garlic mayo sauce is a sauce I grew-up eating with a lot of my Armenian recipes. Absolutely delicious and decided to use this as the aioli sauce for this dish. I used a vegan mayo but feel free to use any mayo you prefer.
  • Romesco Sauce: I was going to make my own tomato sauce using a can of tomatoes and blending that up with some sauteed onions and seasonings. But when I was browsing Whole Foods for another condiment, I found a jar of Romesco Sauce by Chosen Foods and decided to try that. I’m all about short cuts sometimes. But feel free to use your favorite romesco recipe to create this.

You can serve these up as a delicious side dish any day of the week or as a scrumptious appetizer for a get-together. Beware though, you may need to triple the recipe for apps because these babies will go quick.

There you have it loves, my delicious and favorite tapas recipes ready for you to try. I hope you enjoy this.
