Switching to cleaner oral hygiene was something important to me and a change I made years ago after learning about all the nastiness contained in mouthwash and toothpaste. Think about it, you are brushing your teeth twice a day at the very least, do you really want to use products containing ingredients such as SLS, PEG’s, fluoride, and aspartame? Heck no! Oral health is extremely important.

So when I wanted to make the switch to a cleaner lifestyle, changing out my oral care was a no brainer. You absorb all of your food on your tongue. All that bacteria can sit there if your mouth isn’t properly cleansed causing other internal issues such as Alzheimer’s, diabetes, stroke, and even oral cancer.

Disclaimer…I do want to be completely transparent here. My kids and I do see a regular dentist every 6 months and do a fluoride cleaning then. Even though we don’t and or avoid fluoride at home in everyday care, I choose to do it twice a year with the dentist so they can ensure we have proper oral care. Twice a year won’t hurt especially when they use the vacuum to suck it all out before we swallow it.

Toothbrush

I am recently new to the bamboo toothbrush. I have a sonic spin brush which I love but a few months back, I ran out of the replacements and thought I would give the bamboo brushes a try. So far I am loving them  but what’s not to like? These brushes are made from natural bamboo with soft BPA free bristles. They are also cruelty-free and vegan and made with carbon treated bristles. You are also doing your part for the environment and using something recyclable instead of throwing away plastic brushes filling up landfill. It’s a win-win.  Did I mention that they do the job perfectly? I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. I usually replace my brushes every 2-3 months because I’m a neat freak and these come in a pack.

Toothpaste
David’s Toothpaste: The very first switch I made to cleaner oral health was my toothpaste and I have tried my fair share of them. But the one I keep coming back to is this one by Davids. It’s a little bit on the pricey side for toothpaste, but it WORKS. Plus it’s free of triclosan, SLS, and fluoride. No funny ingredients. All clean and natural including the fresh mint leaves for flavor.

Dr. Brite Toothpaste: The other ones I like are the Dr. Brite toothpaste. My kids use the children’s version of this. It works great and tastes amazing. I also really like this Activated Charcoal toothpaste by Schmidt’s. You can find this one at Target and rated a Zero on the Think Dirty app which means it’s super clean and contains no funky ingredients. This one is also at a great price point if you don’t want to spend a lot of money on toothpaste. USE CODE: PRECIOUS10

Schmidts: I love this one as well. Activated with charcoal to really help whiten your teeth.

Tongue Scraper
I have been using a tongue scraper for almost a year now and it is game-changing. Ever notice those little white bumps on your tongue especially towards the back? Yea, like I said, please use this. So easy to do and only takes a few seconds. I use my tongue scraper every morning and night by starting at the back of my tongue and gently scraping towards the tip of my tongue. Then rinse under water and repeat a few more times and you’re done.

Tongue scraping is the BEST way to clean out all the toxins and bacteria from your mouth. By scraping your tongue each day, you are removing fungi, leftover food particles, dead cells, and help with bad breath. Try it out and notice bad breathe be gone. It will also help boost your immune system as well as digestion. very inexpensive and something I recommend EVERYONE doing.

Floss
Flossing is so critical to clean teeth and oral health. You don’t want to keep food trapped because of your risking exposure to cavities. I used to not floss several years ago and as a result, I had a ton of cavities. So guess what? The past 10 year now, I floss every single day. THIS is what I use. Dr. Tung’s floss is reasonably priced and works amazing. Very strong and durable so you won’t have to worry about it breaking midway.

Teeth Whitening Pen
I love this natural teeth whitening pen. It works amazingly, is reasonably priced, and non-toxic. It also won’t make your teeth feel super sensitive because it’s not packed with tons of chemicals. I use it mainly at night but sometime both morning and night if I have the time. Whiten your teeth without the chemicals. You’ll be glad you did.

Mouthwash
Dr. Brite: Another clean and great mouthwash we love in the Cardozo household.

Hope this helps loves!

Natalie
