If you’re anything like me, and working out gives you a sense of peacefulness and calmness, then here are some of my personal favorite workout essentials: quarantine edition.
Since hardly any of us have been going to the gym (ours recently opened but no way am I going), working out at home has been the next best thing. But, I’ll be honest with you…working out at home is hard to start doing because it’s not as motivating as a class at the gym would be. But because my sanity has needed it, I have been making it a priority to work out every single day for at least 30 minutes.
You will notice that I don’t use weights. I love and prefer to use my own body weight and if I need to workout with weights, it’s not more than 5 lbs. My workouts don’t require weights so that is why you won’t find that listed below.
My Workout Routine
A few things I do… for starters, my boys and I go for walks every single day. It gets our bodies moving and into the fresh air. Nothing beats outdoor air and natural sunlight to help brighten the day. But once the boys are eating their lunch or they are upstairs for their quiet time, I carve out the me-time workout. Here’s what I do:
- Melissa Wood Health Pilates and Yoga Flow. Obsessed with her and her classes.
- Peloton: We have a peloton bike and on occasion, I’ll do a bike ride, but mainly, I use it for yoga workouts. They have beginner, intermediate, and advanced classes, and I absolutely love the instructors. I highly recommend the Peloton because they have an array of classes you can take besides cycle and yoga if you’re looking to switch things up.
- Sarah Shiplett Yoga. My dear friend teaches yoga at the gym I belong to and her classes are FIRE!. She’s an amazing instructor and I would take her classes every chance I got when I would go to the gym. For now, she is teaching some incredible online classes through youtube, until she feels comfortable going back to teach classes at the gym. - Bike Riding: Once a week, usually on a Saturday/Sunday morning timeframe, we go on a family bike ride and it’s so much fun to do. Great cardio and gets the little ones sleepy.
