What is Buca Botanicals?

Buca Botanicals was founded by the amazing Ashley Buchanan who created this amazing line of all-natural skincare, bath & body, as well as a men’s skincare products. The company is based out of Austin, Texas (say what?! I’m in Dallas. Ashley, we need to meet whenever I’m in the area J), where she creates all of these amazing products. When you browse through her beautiful website, you’ll notice everything on there is all natural, non-toxic, and made without the following: synthetic fragrances, artificial colors, parabens, phthalates, sulfates, petrochemicals, and minerals.

What I love about her products are 1) she fully discloses all the ingredients used in each item, 2) each product is made to help combat and perform to your skincare needs. She literally has something for everybody on here, and 3) have you seen the amazing colors of the oils and serums? Hello gorgeous! Don’t even get me started on the scents. Heaven on Earth!

Product Reviews

I first heard about Buca Botanicals from one of my favorite bloggers, The Defined Dish because she uses the infamous Camelia & Rose Serum and long with the Rose & Geranium Bath and Body elixir. During Mother’s Day, The Defined Dish was promoting a discount code for her two favorite products and I immediately jumped right on that and made my first purchase.

It was literally love at first sight. The colors of the oils/serums, the smell, the way they performed all truly lived up to the hype. Now I am truly addicted to those products and will be something I purchase over and over again. I did a review on them both as to why I love these two products so much on an Instagram post you can find that HERE.

Fast forward a few months later, and the amazing Ashley sent me some new goodies to try. Here are the items #gifted to me and my personal opinions on each one.

Hydrosol Toners

First, let me start off by explaining why toners are necessary in any skincare regime…Toners are essential to all skincare regime because it helps to close and tighten pores and protects your skin from environmental pollutants and contaminants. It also helps balance out your skin’s pH system and keeps your skin hydrated and moisturized after cleansing. Did I convince you yet? Here are a few I tried from Buca Botanicals and loved.

  • Rose Toner: who doesn’t love a good rose toner. I have been using this beauty all day long. Spritz it after cleansing in the morning or even throughout the day for a little pick-me-up. I plan on bringing this with me when I head to Barcelona in October. Lord knows, I’ll need some hydration on my face during that flight.

This Rose toner is suitable for all skin types and really helps to keep your skin balanced and refreshed.

  • Chamomile Dandelion Toner: Oh, how I love this scent. This is definitely a toner best for combination, oily, or blemish prone skin. The lavender in this toner will help calm and sooth your skin while the dandelion will detoxify and help unclog congestion in your skin. Although my skin is definitely more normal in the summer time, I do from time-to-time get blemishes and love to use this as at night after I cleanse.

It’s no secret I have a lot of pores and congestion around my nose area (I talk about that a lot on my stories), so this toner really helps (along with my serums and other facial routines), to unclog those bad boys.

If you have more pores, congestion, dark spots, blemish-prone skin, I would lean towards this one.

Oils vs Serums Review

Ok, so let’s chat about oils for a sec and define what the difference is between an oil and a serum because there is a major difference and I feel it’s important to incorporate both.

Serums are skin treatments that contain highly concentrated ingredients to penetrate deep into the skin. They are generally used to target a specific(s) skin needs such a dry skin, acne prone skin, fine lines, etc… serums are a vital part of a routine because they help protect or repair your skin from aging, acne, and hyperpigmentation.

Oils are basically a moisturizer that does just that… moisturize. They provide nutrition and hydration to the skin and help keep your skin balanced. Oil protects the outer layer of the skin while serums penetrate deep into your skin to solve an issue.

Here are the two oils Ashley sent over to me to try…

Facial Oils

  • Kukui Chamomile: I love to use this moisturizer in the evening to help soothe and replenish my skin. If you have combination, oily, or blemish-prone skin, this one is for you. The color is vibrant & powerful and the smell is amazing. The jojoba oil will help the skin from becoming oily and that blue tansy will be a powerhouse ingredient to help with those blemishes and acne scarring. Need more moisture to our skin? The Kukui ingredient will do the trick. Love this oil and can’t say enough about how wonderful it is.
  • Blueberry Kiwi: My new favorite morning oil because it’s filled with a ton of antioxidants and amino & fatty acids that will help protect the skin from cellular damage, treat acne prone skin, minimize fine lines and wrinkles (yes please!), reduce skin irritation and because it contains black cumin (I call this a superstar ingredient), it’s also anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory. Perfect for all skin types and a new personal favorite.
