It’s the beginning of the brand-new year and while everyone is making all kinds of New Year’s Resolutions, I’m just trying to find new ways to be my BEST self. Being your best self can be anything that makes you happy. For me, it’s health; and while I am mainly my best healthy self, it’s great to always look for new ways to incorporate a healthy mindset. If this is an area you’re looking to improve, I got you. Here are 19 ways for a healthier you.

Health can mean a million different things to everyone, and while these are only 19 different ways you too can live a healthier life, always feel free to do what’s right and healthy for you and your lifestyle. I could make this list go on and on but since you already know I would add things like switching to non-toxic skincare and beauty products, I cut that one out. It’s a given, LOL.

19 Ways for a Healthier You

# 1 Switch Your Phone to Airplane Mode at Night

Ever heard of EMF? Electric and magnetic fields (EMFs) are invisible areas of energy, often referred to as radiation. Usually, they are associated with the use of electrical power and various forms of natural and man-made lighting. High-level radiation can have the potential for cellular and DNA damage. So, making the smallest changes like turning your phone to airplane mode at night will help reduce that.

Rose Matcha Latte

#2 Try a Matcha Latte

Ditch the coffee and opt for a matcha latte. It contains natural caffeine and has two beneficial components: 1) L-theanine, which lessens the impact of its caffeine and calms the body while promoting relaxed awareness, increases cognitive performance and increases mood. 2) It contains Catechins, which contain antioxidants like vitamins E and C, and helps promote periodontal health by reducing inflammation. This is one of my favorite recipes.

#3 Swap to Cleaner Non-Toxic Cookware

I know what you’re thinking, what? My cookware?! Yes…this is something I have done so much research on and am shocked by why these chemicals are even allowed and legal. If you’re curious to read more on this topic, CLICK HERE. Use code: PRECIOUS10

#4 Cut of Dairy

Dairy is one of the hardest things to give up. I should know, I am still working on this. Although I do cut it out on a daily basis, I do, on occasion enjoy a good cheeseboard of some sort. But hey, I’m only human and believe in the 80/20 rule. But, dairy is very hard to digest and has also been linked to health issues such as cholesterol and diabetes. It’s also the #1 source of saturated fat in America. (SOURCE)

#5 Swap Conventional Coffee and Tea for Organic

Conventional coffee beans are sprayed with pesticides so opt for organic coffee beans, Same with tea…you want to look for organic teas that are in an unbleached tea bag.

Sol Organix Bath Towels

#6 Detoxify Your Bedroom and Bathroom Sheets

Did you know bed sheets and bath towels are made sprayed with chemicals?  Yikes! Make the swap to organic towels and sheets that aren’t filled with chemicals such as, formaldehyde and phthalates. THIS is the brand I use and trust.

#7 Eat More Plants

Although I do eat meat, I always do my best to eat way more veggies than meat. Veggies, as you know, have so much nutritional value such as minerals, vitamins, prebiotics, probiotics, and more…I try to limit my animal intake and sometimes will only eat meat once a day or eat vegan 2 days a week just to give my body a break.

#8 Try Essential Oils

Ditch the candles and diffuse a natural aroma of essential oils. Better yet, try them out for colds, stress, headaches, anxiety and so much more. I love using essential oils for just about everything including, cleaning the house and adding a scent to my wool laundry balls. Curious to read more on essential oils? Click Here.

#9 Drink a Veggie Loaded Smoothie Each Day

One way I ensure I am getting all my fruits and veggies each day is by making a delicious smoothie for the whole family. I have been creating smoothies for almost 10 years (my Vitamix has gotten a lot of use LOL) and it’s great. But BE CAREFUL with adding too much fruit as you don’t want this to spike up your sugar level. When creating a smoothie, be sure to add the following into it: Some sort of fat (like avocado), Fiber (hemp or flax seeds), protein (nut butter or nuts), and greens or veggies. Frozen cauliflower and spinach are great options as they don’t change the flavor of your smoothie. Then, of course, a little fruit.

#10 Drink More Water

I know this is a no-brainer, but a gentle reminder to drink a ton of water to help flush out all the toxins. Be sure to drink filtered water and nothing bottled as those contain BPA that leach into your water. I use THIS filter and THIS water bottle to refill at least 2 times a day.

#11 Eat Organic, Grass-Fed, and Seasonally

While this may not be in everyone’s budget, try to do as much organic as possible. It lessens your exposure to bacteria, chemicals, and keeps the medical bills down long-term. If you can’t afford for EVERYTHING to be organic, CLICK HERE and buy the ones highly sprayed with pesticides.

#12 Meditate Each Morning

This will help set your intentions for the day. Having a few minutes alone before the chaos that is kids, mom life, work-life, etc…have a few minutes for yourself. Nothing calms the mind and your stress like meditating. This will be part of my New Year’s Resolution. I will try and meditate at least 5-10 minutes each day to get my day started healthy and less stressful.

#13 Get Moving

Find something that you enjoy doing and get moving at least 30 minutes a day. For me, I love going on a walk with my babies, Zumba, Cycle, and Yoga. Take a class, go with a friend to keep each other accountable, whatever it is, have fun and move the body.

#14 Eat Seasonally

Eating healthy fruits and vegetables is not just about eating organically, but about eating what’s in season. Chances are, if you’re buying strawberries in the wintertime and you live in Dallas, you’re getting them shipped to the store from other states and even countries. You lose the nutritional value. Eat local and seasonal to get the right health benefits.

#15 Shut Down Electronic Devices and TV by 9/9:30pm

I have been trying to practice this as we speak. But shutting down all devices by at least an hour before bed will help you fall asleep better and get a good night’s rest. I shut down at 9:30pm, brush my teeth, and lay in bed the remainder of the time to read a book or do a short meditation. Lights out for me by 10:30pm to stay consistent and help keep my body regulate.

#16 Make at least 5 Clean Pantry Swaps

If you aren’t already eating whole 30 for the most part, I recommend following the whole 30 pantry staple kitchen items for swaps.  A lot of foods have hidden ingredients such as sugar, natural flavors, and others which can lead to health issues. So, although you may think you’re eating clean, check out some pantry staple items to make sure. I like to buy mine all from Thrive Market where you can shop by Whole 30 diet and it’s much cheaper than buying in stores. CLICK HERE to get 25% off your first order.

#17 Detox Your Life

By detoxing your life, I mean getting rid of negative people or influences in your life. Anyone who makes you feel less of a person or treats you crummy, eliminate them. Life is too short to be around people who don’t build and lift you up each day. Surround yourself with people who truly love, respect you, and make you want to become an even better person.

#18 Invest in Blue Light Glasses

With the number of devices, we rely on each day including TV, laptops, Ipads, etc…any chance you can get to protect your vision as well as gain more optimal sleep is the way to go. I purchased mine and the entire family a pair from Amber Eyewear.

#19 Laugh More

Learn to sit back and laugh more, especially when things are extra stressful. Find some sort of joy in that stressful situation and laugh it off.

Although I only called out 19 ways for a healthier you, keep in mind there are so many other things can make your life healthier and simplified. For example, non-toxic household cleaning products, non-toxic skincare & makeup, and anything else that means healthy to you. Cheers to 2020 and living our best and healthier lives babes.

XO,

Natalie
